Michael's Journey to Japan

Michael Keida was born and raised in Syracuse, NY, USA. He went to university at The Ohio State University where he graduated in Psychology and Italian. His love for language (based on his talkative nature and need to for attention) led him to travel extensively abroad as well as spending a few semesters living and studying in Italy. With the goal of becoming a counselor, Michael decided to take a few years off and travel more for life experience before entering graduate school. In 2005, he lived in Korea where he taught English and Breakdanced with world famous dance crews. In 2006, he set off for Japan, where he planned to live for a year, then move to one more place before returning to America...well, that was the original plan...
After arriving in Japan, Michael found himself in a beach community just South of Tokyo. In a town nestled between the ocean and the mountains, he spent his first years learning Japanese while teaching kindergarten. He also spent time as a bartender, marine sports instructor, construction worker and farmer. Then in 2014, Michael had his television debut with NHK.Since his start, Michael has worked as an actor, model, reporter, MC, dancer, narrator, and is a published writer. Onto the Screen
Michael feels one with Japan, despite being from the other side of the world. His goals for the future are to continue working as an actor and push further as a writer. Since 2018 Michael has been writing movie and television scripts with the hope to one day direct his own project. His earliest memories are of countless hours spent daydreaming and traveling into the depths of his own mind. Putting these journeys onto paper allows Michael to dive deep into the complicated dynamics of life. Through his writing, he puts a magnefying glass to the relationship between Japan and the rest of the world. He hopes to use drama to help build a bridge between his origin and the place where he now calls home. Michael is convinced that the true nature of humanity trumps all else, and that drama speaks to all of us the same. We all laugh, we all cry, let's do it together.
